Last week, I had sick kids. Well, I have Ella home again today - for an eye infection.

Last week, Ella was home all week - with fever and eye infection issues. She is taking antibiotic drops for them.

Mason also had a fever last week and bad cough. He was home all week.

Cooper was home with us on Thursday with a fever, as well.

Yuck - we want to get healthy. This is the pits.

Ella - we thought she had pink eye - but I think it is a virus. Her left eye was bleeding yesterday - yes - drops of blood. Wish her well...

Our games continue - two today both half hour apart and across town - so I didn't see much of either game - but both kids successfully made it to both.

last night Mo had a game and was fouled so she had two free throws. the look of terror on her face was priceless. Two losses today, one win last night.

The last two months have been very hard in this family of mine. We are dealing with lies, deception, and really, horrible things than I never imagined would happen in my world. Grinch Punch

Morgan had a holiday slumber party last night and I found this grinch punch recipe. It was a hit...
And easy...

Ingredients

1/3 cup sugar
6 tablespoons plus 1-1/2 teaspoons water
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
12 drops neon green food coloring
1 bottle (2 liters) lemon-lime soda, chilled
2 pints vanilla ice cream
Directions
In a large saucepan, combine sugar and water. Cook and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved; remove from the heat. Stir in milk and extract. Transfer to a bowl; cool to room temperature. Cover and refrigerate until chilled.

Just before serving, transfer milk mixture to a punch bowl. Stir in the food coloring and soda. Top with scoops of ice cream. .

Ok, so we have 3 iPads in my family and now 2 iPhones.

We are always checking out new aps. Our latest favorite (my 3 year old LOVES this game) is
cookie doodle.

You pick the kind of cookie you want to make, and they have you drop ingredients in, crack eggs, etc and you mix it up and roll it out. Then you make whatever you want to , whatever shape and you frost, sprinkle, write on, etc the cookie. They love it and it is a hit with all kids wherever we go!!!

Rough Week

It has been a rough week over here. Things happened that I really never thought I would live through in my lifetime. But, life is life.

I did go make some turkeys with the Kindergarteners on Friday - a highlight of the week.

Soccer wrap ups... and trip

Here is Morgan with her trophy from soccer. Her team came in fourth overall and she did well.

I just got back from a weekend with my friend Amy. It was great spending time with her especially since she has moved and I miss her. We had fun except for the phone call on Friday with Mason falling in the gym and breaking his two front teeth. That was a little chaotic. Also, G didn't have his alarm go off for school, but the kids didn't even wake him up and got dressed, got breakfast and Mo helped with Ella's hair and they got to the school bus. I am so proud of them!! Amazing. That really shows me how big they are and how independent they are becoming.

I got back and we headed to Bristol Speedway in Lights 5K. G ran with the big kids - well, mainly Cooper and Morgan ran on her own and I had Mason in the jogging stroller and Ella and I walked/ran. Mason oohed and ahhed over the lights. It was a nice night.

On Friday, I went with Coopers class to Appalachian Caverns. We had a good time - I was the only parent for his class, so it was me and the teacher. We did have fun. They did a climbing wall, in the rain. Then sifted through sand for rocks. Then, into the Cavern. But, it was a fun time.

Soccer is now over. Cooper's team ended up in 3rd place. Morgan's team in 4th. We had Morgan's team party today. I won't even pick up Cooper's trophies until Wed this week and on Thurs, I head out of town on a girls weekend.

Halloween 2011

Our night ended poorly, Cooper got his Harry Potter glasses thrown from the car window and when we looked back for them, they were smashed. Morgan went trick or treating with school friends in the neighborhood and Parks mom was to drive her home. Well, I saw Parks out without Morgan and I guess Morgan went off with Madison, because Madison was cold and didn't want to walk alone. Madison, once home, decided not to go out anymore. This left Morgan asking if they would take her to Parks, but no. Then, they offered to drive Morgan home and she refused. Really??? They let a 10 year old walk one mile home alone in the dark on Halloween. I was not happy. Turns out Morgan won't be going anywhere with any friends without me around. I did call the mother who let her go and told her Morgan got home safely. She said she offered to drive but couldn't do anything else? Really??? Couldn't have let her use my phone to call me - I have a cell phone. Couldn't just not let her walk??? Ugh. So many things wrong with this... But at least she is safe. She did cry most of the walk home.

My mom was here for a long weekend and we had a great visit. We dragged her around town. Ella was ill for some of that and my mom stayed with Ella while I went in the cold to a soccer game for Cooper. Morgan had two camp outs during her stay. First, with her AHG group. She went from soccer game to camping and it was COLD out for her. They stayed in tents, but she had a great time. Then, on Monday, all 88 5th graders went to 4H Camp or Adventure Camp. They had a great time there as well, but stayed in side a cabin - which was nicer. She was able to canoe, do a ropes course, shoot, etc.

Tuesday night, we had Ella and Masons final soccer game and then Fuddruckers after for trophies and fun. Both kids had a great time. The party was the same time as Morgan's first game in the tournament was. So, headed back to get Morgan and I was late, but her team was in their second overtime and they they had a kick off (or whatever you call it when 5 players from each team get a turn to kick against the goalie). Mo's team won by 1. So... she will play again on Fri night.

Cooper plays his first tournament game on Thurs.

And... all this and G is home but he has been working 11-9 every day and we really have not seen him. So... single mom at her best... and G heads to New Orleans this weekend.

Worn Out

Ok - so yesterday I was at the school all day. PTA Board Meeting then I was setting up for Faculty Appreciation Luncheon. OH - ran to get 3 casseroles at Chef Anna's to find out her computer crashed and she didn't have them for me. WHAT? So, she could get them in an hour - ok. I kept getting calls and texts from moms telling me they could not bring what they said they would. WHAT? Well, good thing I planned extras (must keep remembering to do that). Ok - so back to school to finish set up - back to Chef Anna's to pick up. Then, when walking in the school, the fresh from the over veggie lasagna spilled all over my shirt and skirt. Lovely. Ok - drop off - head to get balloon bouquets and decorations for the 5th grade song event that night. Wait - why did the music teacher wait on the last minute?? Got a new shirt at Target. Back to school to put up balloons and decorate. Pick up Mason. See Ella's class. Read to the Kindergarteners. Watch performance to 3-4th graders. Clean up teachers lounge. Kids finally done with school. To head home and then to head back to school for Morgan's performance that night. Ugh... Maybe I need to get a real job.

We ran into my brother and he did the Segway Tour with us. Tons of fun, that tour.

G and I did ride across the bridge to Sausalito. Here he is ahead of me.

It was a fun, quick trip. Now, it is back to the real world.

I picked up the kids today. They all had a fun time with Gramma and Papa. They are worn out. We got home after a quick stop to see my friends new house. Then, some laundry, and getting ready for the upcoming week. Wish us luck... No one wants to go to bed and we are on central and California time!

Yesterday, I joined Ella and her class for a field trip at a local Farmhouse Gallery. It was a good time. They had a hay ride, saw a blacksmith in action, saw wildlife and went for a hike. Then, we ate our lunch and done we were. Oh - they did pick out a pumpkin as well. Fun time.

Ok - last week of school before fall break.

To say we are busy is an understatement..

Monday - piano for Mo and Coop and ballet for Ella
Tuesday - soccer game for Morgan, Mason and Ella (at the same time), and AHG for Ella and Mo. We also have a field trip for Ella (but she has a cough and I got called to pick her up today - but she is NOT sick, really)
Wed - Gymnastics for Ella, Swim Team for Mo
Thurs - Soccer Game for Cooper
Friday - Fall Parties at school - which I am in charge of 5th grade and I am doing a scavenger hunt, painting pumpkins and making a mix and decorating cupcakes. And then we pack...

So, I am sure with the busy schedule that this week will fly by.

Weekend Update...

Ok - fall festival was Friday night. I took the 3 older kids and G got home to stay with Mason. We got rained on and it was a wet night. We had a good time... I stayed with Ella and her friend, Sam, while Sam's grandma worked a booth. I was supposed to work a tattoo parlor - but we had some high school kids who wanted their community service hours, and took over.

Saturday, we had two soccer games and had a great time at both. I am now taking soccer goals to Ella and Masons games. They had been using cones and the kids didn't know where to go - so the visual soccer goals are great. Cooper won his game - by one - it was close!!

Saturday - we had a one mile fun run for the kids - as part of the half marathon on Sunday. The kids all ran each week since August to complete the half marathon in a longer amount of time.

G ran the half marathon on Sunday. We got up to cheer him on and saw him around mile 7 or so, I think... We then found him 3 more times along the run and met him at the finish line. He wanted to be done before 1 hour 50 min and he was!!!

We had two birthday parties to go to on Sunday afternoon. First, swim party at the indoor pool in town. Then,roller skating party. Ella got up on skates and did great all by herself. Mason got up for a little bit and then wanted to just run around everyone while they were skating...

Home and ready to start another week!!!

The above I just thought was funny.

Ok - let me tell you about my Thursday. Yikes. We were running late and the girls didn't make it to the bus stop - well, I told them I would drive them - hold on... And off we went. Well, on the way, Morgan didn't look so good and then, "I think I am going to be sick." came out of her mouth. So, I say, if you are sick - get sick out the window. So, she first tries to vomit in her hand - I redirect her out the window, which she needs to get over the window ledge. Then comes the vomit several times... Sliding down the door of the car - so yuck. One of them was still on the windowsill - which she tried to put up - so them sliding vomit up and down the window. Ok - gross... But, we still needed to drop off Ella and on we go - and not many people noticed the vomit down the door - we tried to get out of car line fast. So... Morgan didn't go to school and we headed for the carwash.

I did take Mason and Morgan and I went home for her to lay down and she actually felt great all day. And read and watched tv... and will be going to school on Friday.

It is raining- and we are supposed to have our outdoor carnival. Not sure if it will happen today or not - but.. the baked goods is the real problem. Lots of cakes for cakewalk and lots of bake sale goods.

Big Week

Finally, Ella and Mason are back to health. And... I have been at the grade school all week. Our carnival is this Friday. So... each classroom has a basket and I was putting together them and wrapping them in cellophane. And... we have a bake sale. I did wrap up some s'more kits for the bake sale. Easy.

We had one soccer game yesterday, Cooper's, and they won. Nice.

We have three games tomorrow night and gymnastics tonight. And i might drop Morgan off at the pool for swim team practice. Friday will be here before we know it. Spirit week all week at school. Today was dress like your favorite book character. Cooper was harry Potter (there were a lot of those) and Morgan was nancy Drew and Ella was Patty from Diary of a Wimpy kid.

Two Down

We had a busy weekend. On Sat morning, I took Morgan to the pool for warmups and dropped off Ella, Mason and Cooper with my friends so they could take them to their soccer games... I went back to the pool to get Mo ready for her events and so she would not miss them. Good thing I was there - as she was a little confused. But, did great. Freestyle - 2nd place. She didn't hit the timer on the wall- so I am sure her time will be off - but she did good. Backstroke - got first. It was the early bird meet - and they have out gummy worms for anyone who got first place (early bird gets the worm)... So, she DQ'd for Breast stroke - I think it was her kick - she thinks her arms - whatever...

So... Morgan also had a soccer game that afternoon and we survived.

Cooper had a birthday party to go to on Sunday. It was at a local Pump It Up place - but they close it down on Sundays so it was only his party - and the little ones didn't get to jump... Lots of tears on this end.

Then, Ella started vomiting on Sunday night. Then Mason in the middle of the night. I will have them both with me today at home.

G flew in on Sat night to leave on Sunday morn. He will be gone until Monday. Thursday night I have another conflicting games - but think I can make it all work...

With G working and traveling, he has been to part of one of Ella and Masons game. And he hasn't seen anyone else play soccer yet this season. Boo to work.

This is the life I live. Saturday with a husband who works and a mother of four.

Ok - 1st soccer game at 11:15. We must be there at 11am. So... start getting everyone ready. Every child is playing soccer today at some time. So, we all must have our uniform on, cleats, shin guards, the works... And each one needs water or gatorade, and chairs. Need four chairs. And camera. And sunglasses, hats...

11 am, at the first field - which has a softball tournament as well, so we park about a half mile from the field. Here we go, I have backpack of snacks, cooler, two large chairs, and two kids carry their chairs and off we go... Walking, Mason trailing behind... We finally arrive to the game - and Morgan runs out to join her team, we set up our home base. Cooper runs off with friends and Mason and Ella sit with me - put on sunblock, oh, we didn't need any sweatshirts - it is hot already. And snack time. Mason wants goldfish - they finish the drinks... Morgan loses in the last two minutes of the game. Bummer... But, she played well.

Off we go - everyone walking, carrying all our gear. It is 12:25, we need to get to Cooper's game by 1 or before... go through Pals drive-thru and get some lunch. Cooper eats in the car - he plays next. He only eats fries. Sorry - Pals does not have chicken nuggets. We get to the next field. We have the team shirts to hand out - Mason falls asleep on the way - need to wake him up. Get out all the gear. Head out to hand out shirts, and get them all ready. Wake up Mason - move him with us. Set up our chairs... Cooper's game starts at 1:25... WAtch. Then, Mason and Ella have a game two fields down. Head down to their game - Morgan stays to watch Cooper. Drop off Mason and Ella with their coach, we are one of the first ones there... wait.... They are ready to start playing at 2... Walk back over to Cooper's game. They are ahead by 5, good game. These kids are really tripping and shoving... Sit - then take my chair and another and my backpack and walk to Ella and Mason's game. Mason is hanging onto the arm of the coach. Ella is really playing hard - face red - and kicking the soccer ball. Sit on my chair and watch the end of their game. Look up - and Morgan and Cooper have joined us... Finally, their game is over. Success.

Time to pack up and head home. Luckily, Mason finally passed out after we get home and all the kids want to veg out... But, time to unpack all the gear and pick up all the cleats, and clothes. Ugh...
Seriously, the life of a single mom on a Saturday with kids is exhausting...

Oh, it gets better, next week, add a swim meet for Morgan at 7am drop off and three games with G out of town.

I didn't take pics of Tuesdays game because the tshirts were not ready. Man - was I ever mad at the tshirt shop that told me they would be ready. But, I digress...

Ok - maybe I have overextended myself this fall...

I was stopped by a new mom (she just moved here from IN) and she told me that she had asked several people who I was and what I was like - because she had heard my name all over town. Hmm... what from? Oh yeah, I am Cooper's soccer Team Mom. She heard my name called at the swim team meeting (I won the door prize - a tshirt) and she got several emails from me in regards to Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. Oh, I suppose she also heard my name from the Landscaping Committee at school and from Room Moms. Ah... Well, she has five kids (one set of twins) and heard I had four. Wondered how I did it all!

Well, there is no simple answer that Yes, we stay busy and so do I. I might go nuts after this year. But I think most people stay busy and I think that since I don't work outside the house, I have time to be Team Mom (which I need to call and see if our shirts are in) or Teacher Appreciation (We have a lunch next Tuesday). But, I need to totally stay organized to get it all accomplished.

Anyway, I need to take Cooper to the dentist today, make sure our Tshirts are ready for tonights game (if it does not get rained out), I need to call to see if someone can take Morgan home from her game (same time as Coopers and G works at 5pm), and I need to get ice for the cooler (I have snack for Coop's game) and see if it all works within the rain possibility.

Made it to Friday. This week we did add Mason to a gymnastics class. It is when the other 3 are in school so works out great. He was the only boy this week in class. But, he had a blast. Same gym that Ella goes to.

Also, Cooper and Morgan both started soccer practices. They should have good seasons. I have yet to hear about Ella and Masons. I will call next week if we do not hear anything from anyone.

And... we fit in a local baseball game from our Johnson City Cardinals. We had a fun time - maybe more fun with the snacks. Mason was loud cheering on everyone. Yelling, "Good catch" to the catcher each time. "Way to go" to each hitter - whether or not our team or not. Yelling, "Good Job" to everyone who touched the ball. Too funny.

Busy weekend ahead. And maybe some time to sleep.

Ok - so I signed up Mo and Coop for piano - again. The old teacher is not available, and I found a time that both can take and it turns out a ballet class for Ella at the same time in the same building. Score. Ella has a few old friends in her ballet class, so she loves it. I just like the convenience.

We got a call for soccer from only Morgan's coach so far. All kids are signed up for soccer - so we will se how that all works out.

So far... everything seems to be working out - ha - I guess we will wait until we get into the thick of it all.

First Day of Kindergarten

Seems like it went well. We met her teacher in the cafeteria and she walked us to her room. We didn't know too many of the kids - most got the other two teachers of the ones we knew. But... I am sure she will do great - she was very excited. She came home happy about the day.

Last night she went to a new gymnastics class. Ella is extremely flexible. I mean, she was with the six year olds last night and when they bent down to put their nose to their knees - Ella had the flattest back of them all. Let me add, I am the least flexible person you will ever meet. Ella also worked on her cartwheel, they did some trampoline, uneven bars and the balance beam. She seemed the strongest on the bars, as well, she just flipped up there and held on and I was impressed. They did a plank hold where you hold on under the bar and hold your legs out straight in front of you, so your body looks like an L - well, she held on the longest, even so that the fourth grader helping was like - "wow - you do that better than I do."
We will go once a week.

Last Day with Just Ella

Ella chose to get her nails done. Shocker... She got hot pink toes with white polkadots and glittery blue fingers and the lady put 2 flowers on those. We are meeting my friend for lunch at Cranberries, going high style for Ella.... We find out later today who her teacher is and she starts full time tomorrow.

Mason was excited for school. Last Friday we saw his classroom and he was so excited to play - he wanted to stay. He will have a bigger classroom this year with more friends. I am sure he will do great. He jumped out of the car excited this morning.

First Day of School

First Day of school for Morgan and Cooper. Fifth and Third Grade. However, we only have a half day.

Ella had a Kindergarten meeting - she goes tomorrow all day and will interact and play with other kids. Then, on next Wed night, we will be told which teacher she gets. Then... her first day will be next Thursday. Mason joins his class on Monday at preschool.

Ella's shoes crack me up in the last picture. Yes - she wanted a green shirt, pink skirt, with aqua and purple crocs. She has major style.

MS Trip

We are back from our trip to Mississippi. Morgan and Cooper both skiied. I think I was on the jetski when Cooper was skiing - so I didn't get many pics of that. Morgan did have a small ski injury - the board hit her chin - and Dad glued it back together - and she is good as new. She might have a more dramatic story, but she is fine.

Mason and Cooper love the jetski. Mason loves to go fast.

We got Mason to ride the Ninja or towable for the first time. He is a pro and did great!

Here is Ella and Jude in the pool swimming. They have a great time together. Ella just loves Jude and Hazel to bits. I didn't get a pic of Hazel this time - but she has growing curls and is a doll.

We had a fun time. G and I took big kids to Harry Potter 8 and little ones saw Cars2 - Mason stayed awake this time. The kids also saw the Smurfs movie, too. We went out of the boat 3 times and went to a waterpark, too. The best part of the waterpark was that my mom-in-law got a season pass and got us all in 30 min before the park opened. So, we were able to ride all the big rides with no lines - which was awesome. It did rain on us - but we all were all wet and no thunder, so it was great.

School starts on Thursday. Time to unpack, laundry and get ready for school!

These are my pics of the photographer taking pics of the kids. I think she realized that we may not have some great ones of all four of them. Mason didn't really want to smile or be told how to pose. But... we fed some ducks and had some fun watching turtles and such. We will see how they turn out.

Ella went to VBS again today and had a good time. This church had a big boat outside that the kids rode in the parking lot. She loved that. They had a huge ladder to climb to get on the boat - Mason loved that - but he jumped to me on top of the ladder.

We are packing again to head out tomorrow to MS. One friend said, "Why in the world would you want to visit Mississippi in July???" I ask myself that, too. Only because family is there... I agree it is hot and humid and on the way - past Birmingham, I can just smell the heat and humidity. But, here we go...

We survived our photo shoot last night.

Ella was a trooper getting her tooth pulled today. Hate that for her - but she did great. That girl has a real pain tolerance and is pretty tough. We rested most of the day - Mo and Cooper went to the Ridges Country Club to swim with some friends - seems the ear is feeling better for him.

I get to go out tonight for a dinner interview... hopefully the spouse will be nice and fun. Our old neighbor is coming to babysit and I can't believe Olivia can drive!

I am also in charge of the faculty appreciation luncheons this year. Each month they get lunch - usually a theme donated by families from the school. Well, two days before school starts there is a sandwich/salad luncheon I am getting ready. So far, one salad and tons of chips. Hmm... let's see how this works out. Oh - I do have a huge budget for this - so if I need to, I can purchase food items we are missing.

Sad news - the upcoming 3rd grader from our school died yesterday. All of this was posted via facebook - which I found disturbing. I mean - people were posting that she was on a vent, non responsive and they were checking for brain activity and such. I wasn't sure if anything was actually accurate - and then I noted that someone posted from her mom. I didn't know the family, so I am not sure if the mom was posting this information or telling her friends, but is a sad situation. Two kids went to the zoo with their grandparents who were in an accident on the way home - grandma had surgery, both kids went to the PICU, but I think the other child was 3 years old and seems to be recovering. So sad for all involved. Prayers for them all.

Well, we were all under one roof last night. The kids were a little more than exhausted. Lots of exhausted crying on the way home while telling me stories. I was a little surprised - Morgan spiked a fever and Cooper had an ear infection. I stopped to see my friend and her family - and my kids were laid out and would have laid down if they could at the dinner table. I guess my plan is to let them rest as much as they can for today.

One of our schools families two kids were in a car accident with their grandparents. Both kids are in the PICU at the hospital. Sending prayers for the Lewis family.

Here's to a relaxing day and hopefully it will work - bad planning that we have a family photo session for tonight. I guess thank god for photoshop for these kids with bags under their eyes.

Ok - I got a new computer that might just be the death of me since it is not doing what I would like it to do.

Home Alone...

This week I am home alone... G has to work every day from 11-9, so really it is all me.

The kiddos are at Gramma's house for the week. Mason even is there - which is probably who I am most worried about. It is a long time away from mom. But, I know they will be keeping busy and having a great time and we have facetime on the ipad each night so it is all good.

I had to go get an estimate for G's convertible, which was hit in the parking lot at work. And then, I had gotten my van hit by a tire on the way to IL and I guess it did leave a small circle hole which split completely on my drive to drop off the kids. So... I am getting a new windshield as well...

My best friend is moving away - well, she already moved, and I will maybe go and help her unload this week - she is going to Knoxville - which is about an hour and a half drive. Very, very sad about this...

White Sox

My brother took Cooper to his first Chicago White Sox game. They had tickets from a friend, who sat in front of them and they were above the first base line, about five rows back. Cooper even got a tshirt that they threw into the crowd, with Scott's help.

He had a great time!!!

Lightning Bugs

A few weeks

A few weeks ago we started catching lightning bugs or fireflies. I think I was out on my one night out this past few months and Garik was with the kids and I think Mason caught the first few lightning bugs.

I love that they don't bite and are so easy to catch.

We try to go out each night and catch them and then let them all go before we go inside.
What a great gift for June!

I am unable to load some pics, not sure the problem. Seems like a blogger problem but could be my computer. Very frustrating when I put in lots of time and can't seem to load any...

But... without pics... here goes.

Ella finished her t-ball season - well, our last game was actually rain delayed but I don't think we will have a makeup. Her team was undefeated! Amazing. I didn't even realize they were keeping score for awhile there. She was fantastic. They played her at third base last game and she was stopping everything and chasing kids down to second and was great. She hit to the pitcher the first time at bat and was out at first base - which was a first for her. She hadn't been tagged out before. So, the coach told her to hit the ball down the third base line. Riiighttt... Like I was thinking that would work. Well, what do you know - the next time she was up at bat, she hit it right down the third base line. Amazing.

Morgan got home from camp a happy camper. She had a great time and really like archery and art. She met some nice girls - most from Asheville and some from around Atlanta. She thinks she is ready for the two week camp next year.

Cooper has finished his baseball season. The bad news is that his coach was not there to pitch his last game - a tournament game. The other coaches could not throw any good pitches and the players only get 5 pitches in total. Well, if they are over your head or actually ready to hit you - you can't hit. So, they striked out lots of our players and we lost by 2, to a team we should have beaten. But... we had a good season.

We are also realizing that parents and fans of baseball are a little crazy. They have an all star team here for the rest of the summer- yet it technically is not all stars. It basically is a team that exists if your dad is one of the coaches or coaches helpers, you can make the team. It is a little frustrating - but I guess that is the nature of the baseball beast. We have heard all summer about our league organizer having his kids who he wanted on his team trying left handed for the draft, so he could just pick them up. And there are winning teams, who win because they do not play everyone on the team, just to win. The problem is that this is INSTRUCTIONAL league- so that shouldn't happen, but man, these men coaches are out of control. But... enough of that for now.

We have a low key week. And good thing - because there has been lots of rain...

Camp posts pics 3 times a day. Here Morgan is smiling - I am not sure they are getting anyone not smiling. They had an initiation night last night and I think she is a Seminole - and not sure what that means, but Morgan was excited at the idea and thought it was similar to Harry Potter and the different groups - but I told her she would be in a tribe.

We went to our pool yesterday and found 2 frogs and 3 dead moles or voles as I was told they were. I think the strangest thing was that the people before us were swimming with them and there was one in the baby pool and they didn't even notice and those moms could not bear to get it out - I did it. The funny thing was - they were asking Bruce - a 12 year old, or is he 13 to help out. Cooper said later, "Those ladies were in their 30s - what were they thinking?" who knows...

Dropping Morgan off for camp was fun. It is actually in Black Mountain, NC - which is about 10 minutes past downtown Asheville. Beautiful camp. Morgan is set to do some fun activities.

On MWF - she does archery, swimming, camp craft, and drama.

On TTh - she will do volleyball, fencing, dance and art.

She was ready for us to leave right after I made her bed - there were about four girls who already were painting nails and giggling - so she joined right in with them.

They will upload pics today on their site and I will try to post some if she is in any, if I can.

Sunday - Time for Camp

We had two games yesterday, a tball game and baseball. Last regular baseball game and games were at the same time - so I dropped off Ella with friends and was able to watch some of Cooper's game. Best game he played all season. He got a hit and just started to run here.

Cooper played catcher some of the game - he got a great out at home plate, too. Fabulous plays.

He got four outs the entire game. Played shortstop some of the game and did some great throws.

This is Morgan's trunk all packed up for camp. She sure is excited.

I will drop off Morgan today. Just outside of Asheville, NC. She is excited and we are all ready.

We got back from the beach and I had a dentist appt and G worked - so I had to find a sitter or find something for the kids to do. Well, VBS was at a local church and the girls were excited. Cooper not excited and Mason is too young. So... took the girls on Mon morning and got a sitter for Coop and Mason and off I went to the dentist for a replacement cavity. Apparently, my old fillings were not up to muster - so out they went and in some new ones went... Hope I don't have anymore cold pain sensations.

And... swim team for Morgan at night...

There went Monday.

The rest of the week is VBS for the girls and I get to hang with the boys in the morning. cooper has a baseball game every night the rest of the week Ella has a game on Friday night right before Coopers and they both have games on Sat - at the same time, too across town, as well...

We might be getting in some pool time as well, but so much for a relaxing week around here.

And Morgans birthday is Thursday and she wants to see a movie on Friday - the Judy Moody movie.

I take Morgan to camp on Sunday- so we will be packing and labeling everything and getting ready for that as well...

Wish us luck. Cooper has a goal to get the game ball at one of the games this season. He almost got the game ball one game, but they gave it to Sam, who finally got a hit and didn't strike out the entire game.

Beach Trip

We had a great time on our beach trip. I was trying to load a few pics but am getting a security error. NOt sure how to correct that. Will look into it.

We had a fun time. We laughed so hard - that was my favorite part. We chased crabs at night with flashlights. We boogie boarded, wave jumped and swam in the ocean. We ran along the beach. We built sand castles. We grilled out. We caught hermit crabs - and killed them in the hot pail they sat in. We caught starfish. We saw dolphins. We played on ipads and DS's. We picked up shells.

A neighbor had a birthday party and was a giant slip and slide. The kids had a blast.

There was one big bump and away they went on the next slide.

The last day of school. Showing how tall they are... Morgan grew a ton this year at school.

Personal Yearbooks or Memory Books

This year I took on the project of making personal yearbooks for Coopers class. It is almost a page a month or so... and they kids write in each page and I take lots of pictures of them and their friends... I was met with a little hesitation from the teacher originally - she didn't have any time for it. It didn't take much time for her but from me. So... I took some pictures during lunch and they had a page on lunch. I took some pictures when not bothering anyone. We put them together during classroom parties and such and I went in yesterday - the first time this year - to finish them all up.

Here is my bag, loaded and ready for all the kids with their books. I got this idea from Becky Higgins, who has a blog and some free templates. I didn't use many of her templates, just made my own for the purpose we needed. I think everyone loved them, but I did have a boy who wrote, I hate this. This is boring. Like, I prompted them for a page of classroom parties. It said, We have classroom parties. Here is a picture of our valentines party. My favorite party was.... and why.... He wrote valentines because I didn't have to do this stupid scrapbook. Nice, huh??? But, I think everyone else liked it and it is a great way for these kids to go back and look at their second grade year.

I may try this with the fifth graders next year...

Hamburger Cookies

Ella and I made these hamburger cookies yesterday for Morgan's award ceremony luncheon for AHG.

We had a great time.

Nilla Wafers, red frosting, yellow frosting, then green food dye with coconut, and a chocolate cookie ( I think I found pepperidge farm mint cookies)

Put them all together and there you go!

Ella loves helping out and is really good when you give her a project to attend to.

She pretty much did the entire project.

So, off we go to awards ceremony today. And hopefully, I can get done early and head out to see Bridesmaids with some friends... Garik will get his run in early and he can watch the kids!!!

We have field day today, and two games tonight. We had two games last night and we have 3 games all at the same time tomorrow and a birthday party after that!!! Busy, busy, busy...

I also have been doing individual scrapbooks for Coopers class all year - will show you all that tomorrow and the final products of that!

We did some painting at her party. I can't upload some other pics, I will try later. This pic above shows shaving cream painting. We also had canvases that we painted on. And... it was raining, so we had to move into garage, but it all worked out. The girls put on a fashion show at the end of the party. Too funny.

Cooper came home from baseball two nights ago and passed out on the couch and didn't get off - I carried him up to bed. He had a fever and was sick yesterday as he is today. Poor thing.
I had a neighbor check in on him while I took Morgan to her softball game. I figured he hadn't gotten off the couch all day and slept all day - he wasn't going anywhere.

Saw this online, and had to laugh at the Royals.

Morgan went to the one room schoolhouse this week. She had to dress ala 1890s and we borrowed the hat and dress and apron. They took a lunch pail - like paint can - and had to eat only food from 1800s. We went with carrots, hard boiled eggs, water (they had at school) and beef jerky and fried chicken.

Ok - 5K was a fun time. Morgan ran like mad and we thought she might get an award - but 15 and under - not 10 and under and some really fast 14 year olds...

Softball again this week. Morgan is playing really well this year. Great hits. Fast running of bases.

Mason seems to be getting a cold - I am keeping him home with me. Garik is on nights so we might see him a few hours a day - not really - he is getting in some running, too. He leaves on Thurs for Traverse City, Michigan for work for the weekend. Morgan is getting an early bday party on Sat. I invited some girls over from 4-7, so we should see how it goes...

I am getting some shelves put into the garage = yeah - from the same people who put in our closets... That should be done this week.

So, this is to my mom...

When I think of my mom, I think of someone who can do it all....
She is a fabulous cook - just ask my kids - they think she is the best cook ever!!!
She is a terrific gardener - who has the most beautiful flowers in the summer... She always helps me with our flowers here now.
She always liked Days of our Lives and had me and my brother hooked for a little while there - while I don't watch anymore - I used to watch constantly through high school and college and stopped right about the time Tivo was invented...
She supported all of my interests when I was a kid, which led to ice skating, basketball, softball, swim team, baton twirling, cheerleading, brownies and girl scouts, choirs, plays, and more. I am sure she knew every single line of each play we were in and she sure enjoyed watching all the tryouts, which is why I think she loves American Idol now.
My Dad traveled a lot when we were little and my mom handled us all and a part time job - with no help and no family in town - so I think I got my independence from her as well...
She sure likes some interesting men and shows - Tom Selleck, Burt Reynolds, and Quantum Leap, Scarecrow and Mrs. King...
My kids love their Nana and I love my mom...
